The Incorruptible Word
Over time, the meaning of some words can change. Some words become so redundant that the potency of what they mean is greatly reduced. They are no longer effective. Other words become corrupted, even twisted, to mean something they weren't intended to mean, like a perversion of the word that is much darker and more twisted than its original meaning.
There is one word I've noticed that I have yet to see corrupted and it losing its meaning or being twisted in an evil way, and that is the word "love." I can't think of an example where the word love was twisted in a way that changed its meaning. You can love bad things and love things you shouldn't, but the word love still retains its positive meaning.
It's that one word that I think cannot be perverted or corrupted. Love is too good of a word to be laid low and broken down to where its meaning is changed or lost. It's too powerful of a concept, and there is no other word that can some up what love means better than the word "love" itself.
There have been a lot of words that have been corrupted. Words that were supposed to be more pure or good that got applied to some darker purpose or inappropriate meaning. In a way its kind of sad when that happens, as our speech and language becomes a little more tainted and less wholesome and clear. It adds to the confusion of an already confusing world.
However, Love, I believe, is an incorruptible word. It's an incorruptible concept that will never lose its meaning, and I think that is a beautiful thing.
