The Projection Versus the Simulation
So I have heard a lot in passing conversation and in articles read and popularized by certain public figures like Elon Musk talking about what is called "simulation theory."
It's a theory that our entire reality is artificial, something simulated, from another reality. It's pretty much what the the movie "The Matrix" tried to depict in its premise. In our popular culture, there are elements of society who believe that this particular concept is what actually exists. "We are all living in a simulation!" as some people would say.
From my own perspective, I don't think that's the case. I believe this reality is very real. It's not artificial at all. However, I do view this reality as a "projection" from a reality that is more complex and advanced than this one.
The difference between a projection and a simulation is that something can be projected into existence from another reality and still maintain a level of realness and truth to it. A simulation implies an artificial, illusory, "fake" quality to it.
Here's how I look at it. I look at our reality, the whole universe, we are in, as the projection and conceptualization of a highly advanced mind. An extremely advanced mind.
The reason I disagree with the idea that this reality is a simulation created by a singular AI consciousness that was in turn created by humans (the whole premise of the Matrix) is that the physical reality, from my view, is too complex for an AI to develop and create.
To me, no creative force can create something more advanced than itself. The origin source of a system has to be, in its own right, a more advanced system than the system it creates.
For me, reality being the projection and mental conceptualization of a mind that is truly infinitely complex solves this problem. An infinitely complex mind can create and develop systems of finite complexity like our universe, and even though our universe and the systems within it are often extremely complex, they are still finite and limited in their complexity and scope.
An infinite mind and the system that would make up such a thing would, naturally, be infinitely more complex than any finite system that it could create. This solves the problem I mentioned above, where no creative force can create something more complex or advanced than itself.
An infinitely complex mind would always be infinitely more advanced than any system it could create, no matter how advanced or complex that system may be, or may become.
Even an evolving system that gets more complex and advanced as it evolves, would still always remain finite, therefore never being able to supersede or usurp an infinitely complex mind.
Good night
