Information Weaponry and the Conquest of the Mind

So, a lot of my posts over the past year have been about information theory and ideas. I like to think about information and ideas a lot. Concepts like a hypothetical abstract realm of existence fascinate me and light up my mind.

I'm a war fanatic too. Any book or article that deals with war and warfare are an automatic tractor beam to my eyes. I've been thinking a lot about information warfare and mind warfare. I've written on these topics recently as well.

As I dived into deep thought about information warfare, I started thinking about the possibility of something akin to "information weapons." To put it shortly, weaponized information that cuts deep into the thinking processes of an enemy and cuts into their minds.

Depending on your intentions, these hypothetical information weapons would be used to either overthrow the minds of your enemy or induce self-destruction on your enemy.

Now this gets a little science-fictiony, but these weapons would primarily be abstract psychological constructs, or information that stems from that abstract realm I talk about a lot that is weaponized in a way that alters and manipulates the thinking of your enemy to your advantage.

The abstract realm is the realm of infinity, so theoretically there is an infinite amount of information to access, but the finite human mind can only access so much at a given time and understand and comprehend it only to a certain degree, depending on the intelligence level of the person.

Even so, abstract information is extremely powerful, and there are a lot of abstract ideas to work with.  Since humans think in language and in ideas, abstract information has immense power over the human mind. We structure our societies based on abstract ideas. The tenets of our religions and belief systems are often abstract concepts.

As a result, abstract information can be weaponized to attack and conquer a human mind. If you can introduce a new abstract construct (be it social, political, philosophical, or spiritual), clearly define its nature, properties, and applicability, so that even a layperson or relatively simple person can understand, and make a strong case for its application and implementation in the world, this abstract construct can potentially conquer the minds of humans, especially if it has high appeal to the interests and desires of its audience.

Original ideas like these constructs are powerful, but hard to come by. If they are well developed and well argued, these abstract constructs find ripe hosts in humans based on  factors like originality, uniqueness, and utility. Since the human mind is at its core just an information processor, abstract ideas that are powerful enough and appeal to a persons senses, desires, and goals enough can very much conquer their minds.

The trick is the medium by which the abstract idea is transmitted to the mind and how it is presented.

The other trick is the level of originality of the abstract information.

The abstract realm of existence is extremely mysterious and ambiguous. As the source for new ideas and constructs, the abstract realm is the realm of human advancement and development. Many of our most significant and powerful technological and social advancements started out as abstract conceptions, and if the abstract realm is as infinite as I believe it is, the advancement potential of humanity and consciousness in general is boundless and unlimited. So, too, are the weapons we can create.

The key to the abstract realm is human thought and the imagination. It's a rabbit hole that is as deep as you want it to be.

Information weapons target the thinking, beliefs, and comprehension ability of your enemy. You can use them to disorient your enemy, decieve, or even convert them to your way of thinking. If information weaponry gets advanced enough, you can greatly influence or even alter your opponent's mind to such a degree that armed conflict may no longer be necessary.
