The information Universe
The universe is made up of many forms of information, and the conscious beings within it are the receivers of this information. The information human beings in particular receive helps program our brains to understand reality in a particular way. Ideas are a form of information, as are the keys I am typing with and the table I am sitting at. The table is substantial information, i.e. information that has concrete substance that you can touch, see, hear, taste, and smell. Pretty much anything you can encounter with your senses is substantial information. Now ideas are information that is not substantial. You can't detect them with your senses, yet they still exist. They are abstract. They only exist verbally and in systems that they are utilized in. They can have substantial images or things represent them, but you can't measure concepts like freedom as concrete substance. Now information is how a brain is programmed and educated to understand the world from a particular worldview or construct of reality. Our brain gets an established foundation by which we construct our view of reality around, much like a computer has a processing operating system by which it runs programs through. The information we ingest through our senses, with it is abstract ideas or concrete substance, develops our construct of reality and that foundational "operating system" it develops in our minds is how we interpret the things we encounter in our reality. The information we absorb can be encoded to represent concrete objects and places and people, like how words are a form of code that have assigned meaning to them in order to paint a mental imagery of a situation, a place, a person, or a concept or idea that isn't substance. Numbers, patterns, and shapes are a form of information as well. And the patterns they form can have assigned meaning to them to encode more information within them. You can encode information in sound and electromagnetic waves, as well as shapes and symbols. Information encoded in shapes and symbols can have historical symbolism and information that has been associated with these symbols, much like how the American flag has become a symbol for liberty and opportunity across the world. Information can be encoded into almost anything that exists. Even things like the face of a certain person can represent information about a history or relationship or an action that was taken, or the shape of a letter or number can be assigned meaning and information that goes far beyond its base use or meaning, like how the numbers 1 and 0 are used in binary code for computers and software. Encoding information gets more advanced when you study things like cyber-warfare and how to get a message across a plane without it being detected and decoded by an enemy. There are many ways to encode and decode information, whether it is through a cypher, a translator of some sorts, or forms of cryptography. It's amazing to think that we technically encode information within information. In some radical way, we actually can encode information within information within information! It's a pretty neat and deep rabbit hole, because if you believe that existence is made up of information, how deep down does that information go. How far can you break information down, and how complex is existence!
It has been really quiet in here since last summer!
